time. 2 o'clock Eastern Standard time, some 38 minutes ago. Hello and welcome once again to the cinnophiles where we are through the

looking glass people my name is Steve Morris I'm a filmmaker and directing

instructor in Los Angeles California up is down black is, and I don't want anybody to jump on me and go,

cock-a-do-do! I'm John Roca. I am a writer and producer and host here in San Diego, California, and Steve, this has been a long time coming and brother I am very, very, very excited and nervous and trepidacious to walk into the world of this film and break it down for not only ourselves but for everyone listening to us as well.

And I want to share a little bit about how this came about, which is about a month ago, maybe a little longer texted me and said hey it's the 60th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination coming up

what do you think about doing JFK and my initial response was, no way. I just immediately saw how much work and complexity and stress.

I mean, just the movie alone, even if this wasn't historical events is an extremely

complicated detailed three plus hour of film so that alone is a lot but then taking on the

seriousness of this event, you know, in particular in the way we want to do things on the cinnophiles is a run and I was frankly

scared and you were frankly right. I'm really, really glad we're doing this.

I agree and I was very happy that you changed your mind on it because you know both of us

have had numerous conversations about things that are beyond just the realm of film, and I thought this would be a perfect film to have a

interesting and layered and nuanced and fun conversation about not only the film but the subject matter of the film itself. And you know sometimes you have to go out on the highwire in our show most of the time just loves to talk about movies but every once in a while

there's a movie that comes along where we know we have to get up out on that high

wire and challenge ourselves and this is one of those movies and so I was very happy that you were

down to talk about it and it's a great thing you're revealing too Steve because we

don't always have these movies planned out way ahead of time sometimes we've got a

schedule and then one of us gets an idea for a movie,

passes it by the other person, and that then gets moved into the schedule and this is one of those

instances. And so I'm excited to dive into this opus from Oliver Stone from 1991 and break it all down and talk about all the things that are around it and see if we survive this high wire act by the end or if one of us or both of us falls off.
