So this week, Labour announced that some of the local inquiries that it had promised into grooming gangs will now not go ahead.

Initially, it rejected calls for a national inquiry into grooming gangs and said that local inquiries were the answer.

Now only Oldham is to get a local inquiry.

The rest are going to be given what Jess Phillips

calls a flexible approach to inquiries. Tom, that's just a euphemism for saying that not much

is going to happen. It's not going to have much teeth for these investigations.

No, absolutely. It's just another insult to the victims to put with all the others where the

grooming gang scandal is concerned. I really think this climb down plus the way in which it was delivered really demonstrates how

unsuriously, how insulting the Labour Party's response to this scandal has been, even though it's

affected literally thousands of people in many cases in their own constituencies.

The fact that this was rushed out 45 minutes before Parliament broke for recess,

clearly a good day to bury some shameful news, given all that's going on in the world.

Elon Musk is probably sufficiently distracted with the trade war to fire up his ex account again.
