I'm Mary Meckley and I welcome you to day six of this week's series.

This week you are exploring how to start your morning. It's a morning anxiety reset and this helps to give you a

0:31.7

functional start to your day that feels sacred, not clinical. And what I mean by that is you are stepping back

0:42.8

in time exploring the morning rituals of the first communities, the ancient Sumerians of

0:53.6

Mesopotamia.

0:55.0

And these ancient peoples formed community

1:00.0

when they started to notice that they could grow crops.

1:06.0

They started to notice that when they would discard certain

1:10.0

vegetables or fruits that plants

1:14.8

would grow.

1:16.9

So over time, they learned how to cultivate and grow more of these plants into crops.

1:26.0

So they did not have to live a nomadic lifestyle any longer. They could stay put.

1:33.1

And this was way back in 4,500 to 4,000 BCE. And Mesopotamia, where they cultivated their new communities is modern day Iraq.

firm foundation where they had a boundary between their public and private spaces

2:32.5

and they kept their private spaces very sacred and you discovered

2:38.5

that one way they did this was by visualizing a threshold the place upon which they entered their

2:48.7

home or as they started their day their threshold could even be when they got up out of bed in the morning or wherever that starting point was for them as they started their day that was their threshold. That was their threshold. And I shared with you how a fellow meditator reached out

3:12.8

to let me know that she actually feels like her threshold as she starts her day doesn't happen
