Let's go.

Welcome to Citizen.

0:12.7

Today's show, we're going to discuss why do smart people believe dumb shit?

0:23.4

It's a good question.

0:24.9

I mean, what we know about this is that,

0:30.7

contrary to what you may think or maybe even perhaps ironically,

0:35.3

people who are smarter have a like a higher IQ are quite a bit more

0:43.1

susceptible to believe in dumb things, to getting trapped by cults, all of, pretty much everything

0:50.3

you can think of that, you know, a person of reasonable or above intelligence can get

0:57.7

trapped into belief-wise. People who are higher on the IQ scale are a little bit more susceptible

1:37.3

is, I don't want to heighten the alarm or anything, but every generation is to some degree

1:41.5

and under existential threat. Reagan said it pretty succinctly when he said,

1:47.9

we're only ever one generation away from the failure of liberty.

1:53.5

So it's something that we should all be concerned with.

1:56.7

And the more concerned we are,

1:59.0

the less likely any of that dumb shit is to happen.
