Hey, everybody, welcome to the Elisa Childers podcast. I'm Alisa Childers, and I have a very, very special episode for you today. So most of you know me as somebody who speaks in the theology and apologetics world.

I do cultural commentary.

And for those of you who have followed my story, I was in a band back in the late 90s, early

2000s called Zoe Girl.

And so for some of you who may not be familiar with what Zoe Girl was like, we were

kind of like the Christian Spice Girls around

1999. So we danced, we sang. Our music was aimed at young tween girls, so kind of those pre-teen

girls. And it's been 25 years since our first album came out. Now, I am very excited because

today's episode is with my bandmates, Kristen Swinford,

Schwain now, and Chrissy Conway Katina now. So we have all gotten married. We all have kids now,

and we got to get together recently because we have a very special announcement, and that is

that we have written a song that we're going to release in January

that is celebrating our 25 years since our first album, our self-titled Zoe Girl album, came out.

And so I invited the girls into the studio to talk a bit about our time together in contemporary

Christian music. I think this is especially an apt conversation

considering that there is so much deconstruction out of the contemporary Christian music industry.

So many of the bands we toured with, some of the artists that we knew and love have deconstructed

and some have walked away from the faith. And it's just very sad to see. But I love that

both Kristen and Chrissy and myself are still following

Jesus, and we're going to talk about that, especially in this age of deconstruction.

We're going to give updates about what's been going on in our lives ever since we came

off the road around 2008.
