Summary

Happy Friday Beauty Byters!

In this week’s Five Minute Friday, I am talking about the importance of restful, restorative sleep. Skin and collagen rebuild during the night, so it is crucial to apply your nighttime products in the correct order and seclude them in a dense moisturizer. Turning off electronics an hour or two before sleeping, closing drapes, and using a satin pillow case are all ways to ensure a great night's rest. Want to find out how to prevent damage to the skin while you sleep, then tune in to today's podcast! If you have a question or something you’d like covered on the podcast, send me a DM or email info@beautybydrkay.com and I’d be happy to respond!

Surgeon. It's time for a five-minute Friday, and let's talk all about sleep. Sleep is so important,

0:20.7

and beauty sleep is one of my priorities, but also

0:23.9

just restful, restorative REM sleep. Today I'm going to give you the top tips for why we need

0:30.2

better sleep and what you need to do to have better restorative, restful beauty sleep. So during

0:36.5

sleep, your skin's blood flow increases and your skin

rebuilds in the nighttime. This is the time when collagen is produced at its highest levels

0:45.8

and your UV damage from the daytime is repaired. And adding a couple of important ingredients

0:53.6

to your nighttime regimen is going to amplify the

0:56.1

skin's overnight metabolic repair processes. So I love to add my vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is a

1:02.9

collagen co-factor. It's so important to stimulate collagen production and retinae, which turns

1:09.0

over cells faster.

1:13.3

As we age, the cells don't turn over fast enough.

1:15.6

You get dull, dry skin sitting on the surface.

1:18.9

Retinae exfoliates and turns over your skin faster.

1:27.2

So one of my important tips for nighttime is this is a very good time to apply vitamin C, retinae, and stem cell growth factors. Did you know that stem cells definitely will proliferate and improve when there's a suitable microenvironment?

1:33.3

And that happens at night.

1:35.3

When certain hormones and cytokines are boosted, your stem cells will actually improve and produce more stem cell growth factors and improve the whole milieu of

1:46.5

anti-aging in your body. I recommend sleeping on your back. That's a very important tip. Tip number

1:52.9

two is sleep on your back. When you sleep on your back, it's very beneficial for spine alignment,

1:58.4

reduces your tension headaches, improves your sinus drainage, stops your snoring in sleep apnea.

2:03.5

Some people sleep worse on their back, but depending on your throat and your tongue, sleeping on your back is very beneficial for open airway.
