Well, Jackie, hello. It's obviously a very, very different podcast today, given the circumstances that the country finds itself in.

We're not going to talk about anything other than the death of the queen, the accession to the throne of King Charles III, which still, it still feels weird, even though it's a fact, it still seems weird calling him King Charles,

0:23.2

which I'm sure we'll talk a lot more about. It's been a very, very odd few days, doesn't it?

0:30.2

It has. It's been that time in our history, which rationally, we all knew was coming. Her Majesty was 96 years old. It was obvious that she had

0:41.4

become more frail in recent weeks, travelled less, did fewer public appearances. But of course, on

0:51.2

Tuesday, she did one of her main constitutional roles and welcomed, appointed the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss.

were travelling to Balmoral made all of us, I think, fear that this was probably the thing that

1:42.3

we had known was coming, but had hoped wasn't.

1:46.0

And we're not, as it seems, I mean, we are, I think,

1:51.0

bureaucratically, extremely well prepared as a country.

1:56.0

You know, the London Bridge plans are going into action across the whole of the country. But emotionally,

2:02.6

I'm not sure we were prepared for what it would feel like to lose the person who has been

2:08.6

with us, for most of us, all of our lives. I can remember when Prince Philip died. I think we talked

2:16.6

about in a hopefully tasteful way about

2:19.6

what might happen when the Queen died. And I remember, I think it was on the podcast, but it may

2:25.3

have been somewhere else that I said I feared almost a complete national breakdown because
