For the next few weeks, we'll be talking about living a God-centered life.

Now, that might sound simple, but living a God-centered life means not living a me-centered

life.

Not quite so easy.

But with God as our helper, it's possible. G.R. Tweed looked across the Pacific

waters at the American ship on the horizon and brushing the jungle sweat out of his eyes, the young

naval officer swallowed deeply and made his decision. This could be his only opportunity for escape. Tweed had been

hiding on the island of Guam for three long years. When the Japanese overtook the island in

1941, this military officer ducked into the dense brush and went into hiding. And survival

had not been easy, but it was sure better than life in a POW camp. Late in the day on July 10th,

1994, he spotted a friendly American vessel.

He scurried up onto a cliff, positioned himself at a high place.

In reaching into his pack, he pulled out a handheld mirror.
