Okay, everybody, can't wait to get into today's mindset and engaged. Now, here's your host, Dr. Stephen Cabral. Okay, everybody, can't wait to get into today's mindset and motivation Monday. This is from a 1979 long-term study. We're calling it the 3% rule, the forgotten Harvard study that predicts

0:34.6

your success. One of the reasons why I love to look at this study is that a lot of people believe that if you graduate from Harvard, you're going to be successful. As a general rule, you've got the Harvard name, you've got a lot of connections, you've got a network. I don't know, maybe you come from means. I don't know, whatever it might be, but Harvard's a pretty good school and we would say, yeah, you're probably going to be successful if you graduate from there. So what I like to look at is not Harvard

0:57.4

versus other universities, but it's Harvard graduates versus other Harvard graduates in that same

1:02.7

class. Well, what they did was they actually took the 1979 class. They broke it down and

1:08.0

they found out how three percent of the class outdid the other 97% by a factor of 10x.

1:16.2

They were 10 times more successful than their counterparts, their colleagues, their classmates,

1:22.7

by doing one specific thing.

1:24.7

And I want to share that with you here today.

1:27.0

So, again, many people are ambitious,

1:30.3

many people want to get after it in life, many people want to be successful. Here's what they found,

1:34.8

though. So the forgotten study is based on a 1979 class where they actually looked at and they

1:41.6

asked graduating Harvard students how many people had specific,

1:48.3

clear, written goals and action plans for their future. Let's break it down.

1:54.2

84% had no specific goals, meaning like they wanted to graduate, they wanted to get a good job, and they wanted to be

2:02.1

successful. Maybe they wanted to make a lot of money. Maybe they wanted to start a family. Maybe they

2:06.3

wanted to start a movement. Maybe they want to start a, you know, a charitable organization. But nothing

2:11.5

specific. Okay. So they maybe wanted to be successful graduating from, you know, university,

2:16.9

undergrad. Most people,
