You know, I love this time of year, springtime, Easter, the dogwoods are in bloom.

If you know for Scythia, that's in bloom here in Northern Virginia and the colors are amazing. Most of the US has their

spring flowers and I know for my family who are scattered specifically on

opposite sides of the country, me in Virginia and my mom in California.

My mom loves the poppies in bloom, the almond orchards in bloom, and all the other beautiful

indigenous flowers of California.

My point here is that my mom lives roughly 2,400 miles from me

and I won't be with her on Mother's Day.
