Hello, Winebbers my name is Jesse Meekham and this is podcast number 343 for

I feel like it is time in my own life to do a bit of a manual intervention.

I have grown to love the feature that is direct import where it sinks with my bank,

pulls in transactions that Julie or I may have missed, and we just categorize and we're on our way.

However, I have noticed that it has made me moderately more complacent in my, in my transactions with my budgeting.

I have this feeling that it'll be caught, you know, it'll be caught, you know, the import will catch it.

And I think my awareness and as a result my scrutiny is suffering.

As awareness goes up, your scrutiny goes up over each of your

purchases. You just start to care a little more. It's not because you should or

shouldn't care that much. It just happens. You just care more because you're more aware of what your money is doing.

And I want to feel a little more awareness. I just want to feel it. So I think I'm due for a bit of a manual intervention. I propose that you and I do an experiment where we go full bore manual only disconnect the accounts that are connected to the bank and input everything manually. That would mean on my end that instead of doing

my import on Sunday or maybe even every other Sunday I would probably just be looking at my bank daily at the most every other day

and I'd just be adding the transactions feeling each one of them maybe reliving that moment where the money just kind of slipped

through my fingers. Intentionally or not, with purpose or not, I think our

black box category, our miscellaneous, it's called the other category. I think that other category would, I think the

spending would drop there. I think activity would decrease. I think the awareness would make us look at those transactions a little more closely.

Anyway, this is an idea I have. If you're in with me, if you think maybe we could do what say you maybe the month of

October what if we declared October to be just a manual month and I realize may or March could have been a

better manual month because it's like March is manual or may March madness
