Welcome to the Huntback Country podcast today guys.

This is episode number 342 and it's a bit of a different conversation.

It's not so much an interview or an episode where we have a very specific topic that we're

trying to dissect and address.

Instead it is myself and my good friend Emry from Byland.

Having a conversation that covers a wide range of topics, it really started because Emry,

I saw that he posted something online saying that quilts, like as opposed to sleeping bags,

quilts specifically, were the most overrated piece of backpacking gear out there.

And myself, I love my quilts.

It's one of my favorite pieces of gear.

And so I know that Emry has a lot of experience in the outdoors.

He thinks very critically and carefully about gear.

And so I was really curious about like, dude, where's your head at?

I don't want to argue, but I would love to hear your position.

And so honestly we dive into that conversation.

He talks about why he thinks they're overrated.

I talk about why I love mine.

But then we get into some other things like fleece versus marino and synthetic versus down

insulation, etc.

And although we dive into those technical details on some specific products, there's

really a bigger high level theme that we discuss in this podcast as well.
