And today, we're talking about a universe. Some would say a dark universe.

Yes, back in 2012, I think that's the year it was, when Marvel's The Avengers was released, a film that it changed the way the business was done in Hollywood.

No longer were there merely a movie, and then if it was successful, a sequel.

Now, every studio was thinking about cinematic universes.

Studios were looking at what are the properties they own and thinking, well, can we make,

what was the studio that was thinking of doing a Robin Hood in his Merry Man universe?

Well, every single one of them had a Robin Hood project up their sleeve.

Here's this thing about cinematic universes.

Me and Will talked about, oh, we should do an episode on that and just talk about all the failed ones.

The issue was this is they're all failed ones because like none have been able to get off the ground and become something that like in a pop culture sense everyone knows in north america at

least i'll say in india there's like an odd police universe where all the different we saw one of the

movies yeah i forgot what it was called yeah police heroes team up at the end of it i mean what marvel did

just from an architectural standpoint was brilliant in that you know they had Iron Man and they had the Hulk and Captain

America and Thor and one by one you fall in love with each of these characters and then

they all come together and it's like, oh boy, all these characters I love are together and then

you're hooked for life. So that was brilliant just how they did that. And the one company who had

done it before and should have easily been able to do it again

is Universal Pictures.
