Music Megan Truzzle grew up in Denver, Colorado right in the middle of a big, close family who absolutely

adored her. Her parents, Vanessa Diaz, and Joseph Trussell, who I worked with on this episode,

co-parented beautifully, even after they divorced, and Megan stayed close with both of them and with

her big sister Lindsay.

Megan was deeply connected to her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and her cousins too.

So much of her life was spent with her family just laughing and having the best time together.

Megan was proud to be indigenous and Hispanic. She was bilingual, speaking English

and Spanish, and you could often find her in the kitchen with her mom and grandma, eating her all-time

favorite meal, homemade friegelis, and tortillas. From the time Megan was a young child, Vanessa and Joe told her to be exactly who she

was, and she took that and ran with it. She was funny and sharp and had this dry, perfectly

timed sense of humor, and she also had a huge empathetic heart. Megan was the person who could make you laugh while still making you feel

seen, and her people knew that she would always be in their corner. On top of all of that, she was also

wildly creative. She filled sketchbooks with drawings based on her life and her friends. She played bass
