0:00.0	Welcome to another Dissecting Popular IT Nerd. Today we're talking with Jeff Schmidt. Jeff comes to us from the medical industry, or the health care industry, I should say. It's probably a better term than medical industry. And Jeff, tell us a little about your journey from the first day that you started working on
0:21.7	computers to today. Absolutely. So my beginning started around, oh, I suppose 1990 when my dad
0:28.7	brought home our first computer of the house, which was still pretty rare in those days. It was an old
0:33.6	IBM clone, an 8088 processor and 640K a RAM.
0:38.6	Man, that thing must have been a monster.
0:40.5	Oh, it was awesome.
0:41.5	I ran DOS 3.3.
0:43.3	You know, no windows.
0:44.4	There was no mouse, which blows my kid's mind that you could use a computer.
0:49.0	Yeah, my mouse wasn't even a thing yet.
0:51.0	Well, you just touch skating.
0:52.6	It's all what you want.
0:53.7	Yeah, not quite.
0:55.4	And I broke it.
0:56.4	So I figured out, like, you can do change your CD and go and browse through.
1:01.8	And if you find a dot bat or a dot eX or dot com, you can run it and just see what it does.
1:06.4	And in those days in DOS, if you don't know what the format command does and you just run it,
1:14.7	and in those early days, you didn't have to give it an argument and tell it what drive,
1:18.9	it would just assume you want to format the drive you're sitting on, right?
1:21.7	And so I wiped the operating system.
1:26.2	And he probably didn't have copies of the discs.
1:29.5	Oh, of course not.
