0:19.4 | So, Paul, before we got on the recorded part of our interview here, we were talking a little bit about your role at Turntide Technologies. |
0:25.8 | And it's a little unusual for you for a role to be both the VP of Information Technologies and a CISO at the same time. |

0:36.6 | You know, having worked for both very large companies and also some startups, you know, |
0:42.3 | you're just expected to kind of get stuck in with a lot of roles. |
0:45.6 | So, yeah, it's not a particularly mainstream that the head of IT and the head of security, |
0:52.5 | you know, kind of poacher turned gamekeeper, as it were. |
0:57.4 | So it's – but I think in a smaller company where security is absolutely paramount, |
1:04.2 | running both roles can work with the right governance and structure in place. |
1:09.7 | So tell us a little bit about that. I mean, there's a natural tension there because, you know, the CSO roles, a job at, in a generalized sense, is oversight versus the IT leader's role is implementation and, you know, operations work. |
1:27.6 | And you got to, you know, there's going to be sub work to keep those two separated. |
1:31.4 | I'm sure you've got some, you know, level of consultants of people who you could trust to work on both sides of it. |
1:35.9 | But tell us how you make sure to keep those two roles in, you know, separated in a startup environment. |
1:42.7 | Yeah, I think, I think, you know, my career has been pretty varied. |
1:45.0 | I've been lucky enough to work holistically across many different disciplines within IT over the, you know, the last 25 years. |
