Hello, everyone, and welcome to a brand new episode of The Cinefiles. I am writer, producer and host, the outlaw, John Roca.

And I am filmmaker and directing instructor Steve Morris.

And we are continuing our conversation of first blood. This is part two of our conversation.

You know, Steve, I've been thinking a lot about after the end of part one of our conversation.

How much this film really does have so much to say about our world still?

And still honors and respects so much of the story here, even though they've made some changes

about what was going on here for so many people who are Vietnam veterans coming back to the States.

And so I am just really moved by how much we were able to explore in mine in part one.

I totally agree. And I think the two things about this film, the first is that people talk about this as like an action movie,

one of the great action movies of the 80s. And it's true, this is a great action movie.

But to me, really, totally, this is a drama with great action in it.

Not an action movie that can be dramatic. And the other thing I would say is I think the biggest things about it is its silence,

particularly the silence of John Rambo and the restraint, his restraint.

Those are the critical things that elevate this movie for me.

Yeah. And we're going to find out the man who created this silence and this restraint within Rambo.

We're going to get to know him even more as we go along here in part two of our discussion in first blood.
