Summary

Today I’m talking about the three types of black men that society accepts the most. A lot of us, especially in the Black community, grow up being pushed toward just a few career paths. We see them as our best or only options. I’ve lived it, and many of you have too. In this episode, I break down what those roles are, why they’re so limited, and why outside forces keep pushing them on us but more importantly, why we keep going along with it. Let’s talk about it. So at least we used to think you had to have talent to be good.

Now you don't have to have talent. Now you's got to be entertained. And again, who's pushing the buttons and deciding to pay these fools? I'll tell you again, something that you already know, and ain't black people, who's doing it? And why are we accepting it? That's the question you really need to be asking. Ray Allay.com. Today's topic, we are talking about the three socially accepted black men.

0:35.6

Now it has long been an issue in the black community that we tend to

0:40.1

condition our young men to aspire to a narrow range of careers, careers such as things that we

0:47.9

consider to be viable career opportunities for our young men. Now, again, this doesn't apply to

0:52.7

all men, of course, but any of you

0:55.5

who knows, you're going to know what I said. Today, what I'm going to describe are some of those

0:59.3

opportunities, why they are in these narrow ranges, what they are, why they're in these

1:03.9

narrow ranges, and why we tend to have so many young men, including myself, seeing these as our

1:09.2

best possible avenues. And also, we're going to talk about why

1:12.6

the powers that be, whomever you think that is, why those powers that be who are not

1:17.9

black males tend to promote and push the same narrow range of opportunities on us. And not that

1:25.3

I'm even putting the onus on them because the follow up to that is

1:28.5

why we accept it. We're going to talk about all of that here today. So let's get to it. Point

1:32.9

number one. Topic again today is the three socially accepted black men. Number one is the athlete.

1:40.3

Now again, I told you, myself is included in this description that I'm given because I spent

1:45.3

many years as a professional athlete and I spent many years before I became a professional

1:48.8

athlete trying to become a professional athlete because I saw this as a career possibility
