In today’s episode, first we talk about a Miss Rachel impersonator gone awry…. First because people were tricked into thinking they were bringing their kids to meet the real Miss Rachel…. And then because the impersonator was apparently arrested just 2 days following the meet & greet. Then we break down the wild lawsuit surrounding the Lion King that was filed after a comedian made a joke about the meaning of the chant at the beginning of the film’s famous song “Circle of Life”. Turns out not everyone thought his interpretation of the chant was that funny, because the song’s writer, Lebo M, saw the viral clip and decided the reasonable thing to do was to file a lawsuit with damages totaling over $27 MILLION.

| 0:00.0 | Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Do We Know Them? Episode 332. Indeed, we have arrived. |
| 0:07.7 | We've arrived and here, as always, we are. People were concerned that I wasn't drinking |
| 0:13.8 | truly in the last, I think I was in the last episode, but before that I had taken a little break. |
| 0:17.9 | And that was just because I kept forgetting that I didn't have any and I didn't have time to go to the store. |
| 0:23.2 | You guys, what point have we reached that if we don't have a drink in our hands, it's weird. I know. At first it was like, Lily has a drinking problem. And I'm like, tell that to all the mostly full cans that are sitting in my office. Yeah. You guys also have to realize that we film at different times. So like today we're filming midday. Sometimes we film first thing in the morning. You know, we have coffee. You don't have drinks. That doesn't usually matter for me. Oh, for me I cannot. If I drink a white claw first thing in the morning, good night. The day has ended. Well, because I don't drink enough of it for it to actually really do anything. And then I usually go for like a walk afterwards. |
| 0:54.4 | I'm not even like tipsy. It's just like an emotional support beverage. Yeah, that's how I feel too. I either drink my white claws or I have my highos, which are like non-alcoholic, but you know, fun and and fizzy. I forgot to bring one up. I'm annoyed. But anyway, um, before we get started though, we did want to talk about one quick little thing, just touch on it, |
| 1:11.7 | that how many episodes ago, two, three. We covered Hawk Tua doing an interview with Andrew Callahan, |
| 1:19.1 | who is, he has the YouTube channel, Channel 5. And we were familiar with him and have seen |
| 1:23.9 | clips before, but definitely are not avid watchers. Familiar with him as a loose term. |
| 1:28.7 | To be honest, I never watched his content. |
| 1:31.1 | I'd seen a few clips that had gone viral in the past, but I don't know anything about him. |
| 1:34.4 | And it turns out there are things to know that in 2023, he was accused by like multiple |
| 1:41.1 | women of sexual misconduct and sexual coercion and like basically |
| 1:45.4 | pressuring them into doing sexual acts when they had said no and they like all came forward |
| 1:51.0 | and then he acknowledged it and basically said sorry and um he didn't understand power dynamics |
| 1:58.5 | which yeah and like he was going to seek therapy and stuff like that. And, uh, yeah, unfortunately, you know, we don't know everything about the subjects that we're covering. So if you ever see us, like, completely, like, not mention something like that, like, we genuinely do not know. We're happy to clarify always. Yeah. But, yeah. So apparently not a great guy. we would have mentioned that if we knew for sure. We did not mean to platform anyone that had allegations. We didn't know. He wasn't the main part of that story. It was obviously about Hock Tua and he just happened to be conducting the interview. So. But yeah, obviously we did not know. And we apologize. We aren't fans of him. Absolutely. that was was why we didn't know. And if he ever comes up |
| 2:35.3 | in the future, now that we know, obviously, that may change how and if we cover him ever again. |
| 2:40.4 | Anyway. Yeah. Just clearing that up real quick. Today's episode is a doozy. It really is. We have |
| 2:46.5 | a very interesting first topic that a good friend of the show, Sherilyn Dale sent me. And I think this is actually kind of an old story, but who cares? I haven't heard of it before. Me neither. Me neither. She sent it to me. And then it just, it got coverage for sure. But it didn't get nearly as much coverage as I would think it would get just because it's funny. It got covered, but we didn't cover it. So like, didn't cover it. No, didn't happen. Not to us. |
| 3:10.1 | But like also, I just feel like things like this either blow up or they kind of, you know, get some coverage and then nobody really cares type of thing. I feel like this should have been the type of thing to go viral on TikTok, but it really didn't. Yeah, I feel like have we covered anything about Miss Rachel before? |
| 3:24.4 | I know that there was that time I animated her popping out from behind you because you were dressed as her. Save your comments. I already know I look like Miss Rachel, but this was an outfit I wore to match my daughter and I'm not ashamed. Okay, and we love Miss Rachel in this house. If you don't know, Miss Rachel, you probably don't know because most people without kids don't know. I feel like everyone knows who Miss Rachel is. That's what I thought. But then I've seen, especially Amberlyn Reed, actually, is the first person that comes to mine. She was talking about Miss Rachel. But then she thought that people were talking about a commentary channel that comments on her called Rachel. and she thought they were just calling her Miss Rachel. And it was very weird, but people were like, Amber Lynn, how do you not know who Miss Rachel is? And then other people who were covering it were like, well, she doesn't have any kids. And I'm like, I guess that's right. I just thought everybody knew her. I guess it's just maybe because most of the people I know have kids. But also, I don't know. I mean, she's popular on social media. Probably not a good marker of the average person. True, actually. Good point. Anyway, Miss Rachel does, like, it's on YouTube or a TV show? No, she does YouTube. I'm pretty sure she probably now is either on like Amazon Prime or some shit like that, you know, but she definitely was YouTube forward and still is and she's done a lot of amazing stuff. She's very unproblematic. A lot of people have compared her to like the Mr. Rogers of our time. Like she's very, very sweet. Does a lot of great work for amazing causes and is like just very inclusive and lovely. And everybody loves her. Although some people don't and those people are demons. But like the majority of people love her. I feel like the only controversy, quote unquote, that I've seen is that she supported Palestine. So, yeah, like what kind of controversy is that? She's like, so no controversies. No, and that she has Jules on the show too. And I believe Jules is non-binary. and people are like, what the fuck? |
| 5:05.1 | Like, you know what I mean? |
