I hear a lot of people say they want to hear God's voice, but I want to say I don't believe that.

I actually don't believe that there's a large majority of believers that want to hear God speak. And it's not because they don't want to. of I think it comes down to that the voice of God has been a painful part of their journey,

that there is fear around it, and I think it also has to do with that when we think that God is angry, mad, tired,

distant, why do we even want to hear his voice? And so I relate to that. I understand that. And I always say

the prophetic in my life, hearing God's voice has been the most incredible and

empowering thing in my life, but it's also been the most tragic and painful thing in my life.

And I'm going to explain that a little bit as we get going.

So today what we're going to do is really talk about the pain of hearing God's voice.

What happens when we think God said something and doesn't happen? What

happens when we think the baby's coming and there's no baby? Or you're going to

marry that person and you don't get married? Or we just know that we know and we take a

risk and then it doesn't happen. What do we do with that? Does God lie? Does he lead

us on? Does he really speak? Did we miss it?

Do we actually, was that not his voice all along?

Man, I relate to those so much.

And I'll never forget a time when I really was hit with this.

Here I was, I was in my 20s and my mom's best friends family. They have a

daughter and a son Jennifer and Ryan and Ryan was a 23 year old firefighter living in Eldarado Hills and he was also on his hobby was wakeboarding and so we had this great big brand new boat a Malibu boat that would go out on Folsom Lake and he would start to kind of do these little competitions with wakeboarding and he is an adrenaline junkie like Ryan is this is who he is he is a crazy person he climbed L-CAPE at 17 and spent the night on the face of the rock.

You know that that's Ryan. So Ryan began to practice this this wakeboarding and it was

obviously risky.

Fast forward, at one point he hit his head while practicing

and was lifelighted to a hospital nearby and we all ran
