| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. Living our lives can be such a beautiful experience, meeting new friends, having wonderful experiences, learning things growing, but at the same time, there is pain. |
| 0:22.0 | And sometimes that pain can seem overwhelming because when we go through life, |
| 0:27.0 | it's pretty much inevitable that sometimes we're going to get hurt by others. |
| 0:32.0 | And when we feel that hurt, we're going to get hurt by others. |
| 0:33.0 | And when we feel that hurt, |
| 0:35.3 | we have to ask ourselves, what do we do? |
| 0:38.4 | Someone else has hurt me. |
| 0:40.2 | So what do I do? |
| 0:41.1 | What is my responsibility now that I have been hurt? |
| 0:45.0 | And I believe it's two things that we need to do in order to have our lives go well |
| 0:51.0 | when we've been hurt. |
| 0:52.0 | One is to heal from that hurt. The second thing is |
| 0:57.1 | to make sure we don't pass it on. As a clinical psychologist working for so many years now with thousands of people, |

| 1:10.0 | sometimes intentionally, sometimes non-intentionally, but going through life, |
| 1:16.0 | interacting with others, family member, friends, lovers, |

| 1:22.0 | we definitely have the capacity to hurt each other. |
| 1:25.0 | Sometimes these hurts are minor, sometimes these hurts are horrific. |
| 1:30.0 | But our job, which I want to talk about the day, is to heal from these hurts and not pass it on. |
| 1:38.0 | These hurts can come in so many different forms. We can be at school and the kids can tease us. We can have parents |
| 1:46.9 | that weren't there for us or when we came home beat us. We can be in love with someone |
