And I'm Tom Myers.

Good to see you here for another episode.

We are taking a little trip back in time to 1964 to New York's illustrious, glorious space-age vision of the future.

The New York World's Fair of 1964-65.

That dash is important too, because for six months, over two different years,

the world came to New York to celebrate, I guess, the world of tomorrow,

or as the fair planners would put in, peace through understanding.

That was the theme, though, as you go through the story.

It wasn't quite as peaceful or as understandable.

It really is a remarkable little thing that happened in New York.

And it's left a little bit of itself still in Queens.

That would be the flushing middle, Corona Park.

There's some literally ruins from the world's fair that are still standing.

And there's nothing better or weirder than going back and seeing some ruins

of what tomorrow was supposed to look like.
