They had back then turned away from Joseph's weeping countenance, and now he turns his weeping countenance away from them.

He's not about to reveal to them who he is.

He wants to know that his brother is alive and safe.

Greetings, people loved by God.

Well, in our last study, Joseph remembered the dreams that he had had. He's still sorting out exactly what to do, what God's up to in all of this. And so he apparently

came up with a good scheme to give himself a little bit of time. He tells the 10

brothers that he knows that they are spies, that they've come down to Egypt to check out the

vulnerability of the land. This leads them to vehement denials on their part. They insistently call him

Lord, and they say, we only came for food.

They tell him, we're sons of one man, we're honest men who have never been spies in our whole life.
