Summary

It's been a while since we did a deep dive on our home networking and server infrastructure (what some might call a "homelab"), so it's time for the 2026 check-in to run down what we're working with these days. By request, we spend a big chunk of the episode on Brad's plain Linux NAS/server, detailing components like Samba, Docker (or Podman), and Sanoid that you'd need to set up yourself to replicate the functionality of something like TrueNAS or Unraid. We also survey Will's more granular approach, once again pine longingly after Wildcat Lake, and more.

Thristheart, yeah. On the Discord, which is the thing we use to sync our recordings together. Anyway, yes, I also, I always hit the record button like right before the beep starts so that it's right at the beginning and

exactly what the waveform of those beeps look like it's like burned into my my memory at this point. Oh, yeah. It's the most important waveform I ever see. I was going to ask you. I don't actually remember what I was going to ask you now because we started talking about the beeps. And I was like, there's a mosquito in my office that I've got to deal with. The perspective, cold open topics discussed right before we started this
