Welcome back to the Morning Mindset Edition of the Live Build Change Podcast.

This is my attempt at giving you a morning shot in the arm.

For us as believers in Christ has set our minds right, focused on the truth of God.

We've been doing that most recently by looking at the book of Proverbs. Today I'm looking at chapter 12 in verse number one.

I think is a great verse of encouragement for us.

It says whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge. love knowledge but he who hates reproof is stupid.

Boy that's pretty blunt isn't it?

Now let's think about this for a minute.

Whoever loves discipline? Now that word

discipline could mean the kind of discipline a child would receive from a

parent. It's a kind of loving correction. May involve some kind of physical discipline of some sort to drive the point home.

But it's saying that a wise person, a person who loves knowledge who loves to learn,

understands that that kind of discipline is needed at times.

The hardship that comes from something being impressed upon you forcefully is often what brings about knowledge and wisdom, isn't it?

But I think he also could be talking about a different kind of discipline.

It's the kind of self-discipline that we have to apply to ourselves at times,

where we are working hard at something, not relenting in our efforts to attain something or to develop

a, well we would call it a discipline in some area.

You see that kind of discipline as well brings knowledge. It brings a type of wisdom

to us that we really need. And the contrary side of this whole thing or the opposite that Solomon brings forth is that the one who hates reproof or correction is stupid.

I think about our culture and I think about some of the things that we hear from time to time.

Things like people saying, who does he think he is telling me what to do with my kids?
