If you could use some hope, I pray you find it here today. This week on the podcast we're dipping into the book of James. This new

testament letter to the first century Christians has so much to say for us today, words about joy and suffering, prayer and

humility, putting faith into action. I sure hope this message from James

Chapter 2 encourages you today.

And so we turn our attention now to James Chapter 2.

It's quite likely that James is the earliest of the Epistals, written early in the first

generation of the first era first church.

And I believe that James who wrote this epistle

to those who were suffering persecution would call upon us as he called upon

them to be communities of courage. They had been banished all over the then known world, a part of the diaspora,

spread around. And this letter written by James then circulated among the churches was a call to courage, a call to even count

it joy when we face various tribulation.

James chapter 2 can be divided, at least I believe, into two very clear sections.

The first section could be called the folly of Favoriteism.
