Summary

In this episode, Corrine and Neil open up about the simple mindset shift that transformed Corrine’s approach to parenting and turned a school break she once dreaded into one of her most joyful and connected seasons with her kids.

They explore how setting intentional goals as a parent can help you enjoy your children more, not just manage them. From creating emotional safety during the tween years to checking in regularly about feelings and boundaries, Corrine and Neil share real-life strategies that help build deeper connection and trust at home.

You’ll also hear how practicing “API” (Assume Positive Intent) has changed the way Corrine responds to her kids and why loving your children with less control and more curiosity might be the parenting breakthrough you didn’t know you needed.

Whether you're raising toddlers or tweens, trying to enjoy summer break, or just want to strengthen your parent-child bond, this episode is full of helpful mindset shifts, spiritual insight, and encouragement to show up with more love and presence.

Okay, we are starting over because we were recording a totally different episode. And I just,

0:11.3

the only reason I share that is for you to know as the listener that we really care about

0:17.0

not wasting your time and having a really good episode to listen to. I mean, I don't think

0:21.9

like everything we do is amazing by any means. But so that you know it's really, really important to

0:27.7

us that everything feels good and on. And so we're shifting topics. And the one that we're about

0:34.7

to talk about I feel really good about. And it's something that's so top of

0:38.3

mind for me. I have found myself talking to multiple friends about it. And so that is just intention,

0:46.1

setting intention. And before you go like, I roll like, okay, that's so cliche. Everybody talks

0:51.9

about that. I'm going to tell you my personal experience with that in two

0:56.6

different instances so the first was christmas break and our kids have a really long christmas

1:02.6

break they have a three week christmas break and in years past i've been like okay week three

1:07.6

of christmas break we've got to schedule something. We've got to get out of town

1:11.3

because three weeks with all the kids in the house is going to make me crazy. And so I kind of looked

1:16.7

at it that way and almost kind of dreaded it. Like what are we going to do with them for three weeks?

1:21.6

And it was just that kind of mindset. And we've done some really fun things. We've like rented

1:25.2

beach houses and whatever. But this year,

1:28.4

just like our schedules and things that we had going on and our kids and whatever, it didn't

1:32.6

line up for us to go out of town. So we decided to stay home. And I just remember starting out

1:39.3

Christmas break saying, I'm going to enjoy my kids. I'm going to really enjoy and love this time with them

1:47.0

and get to know them better as friends. And it just changed everything. It changed everything for me

1:54.7

as far as like looking at that time every night of like, this is so fun. What are we going to do

2:00.3

tonight? Like let's play a game.
