And you're listening to the Important Cinema Club. And today we're doing our most anticipated episode of the year when we tell you the best films that came out in 2022.

I mean, people who...

People in general, yeah. Yeah, exactly.

The numbers don't lie. This is an episode that gets clicks.

Probably the most of the year, because people want to know, like, all right, I didn't really pay attention that much to movies. Is there anything that I missed? Is there any gems out there? And guess what? You're not going to hear about it on this episode. So what was the year in film of 2022 for you? Yeah, I didn't have a very good 2022. And movie wise,

looking at like the stuff that I gave like really good ratings to, I was like, okay, yeah,

a lot of those four stars, I'm like, that was entertaining and it did its job, four stars. Is it a best of 2022? No, not really. It's hard for me to feel great about the state of cinema, you know?

I mean, let's face it. There were two gigantic movies this year, Top Gun Maverick and Avatar that a lot

of people liked, that were sort of cultural phenomena, both of which are kind of, you know,

nostalgic enterprises. I like them both very much, but, you know, they're,

they're coasting on the fumes of something, fair to say. And then there are, you know,

one prestige movie for grownups, quote unquote, after another that just flopped. One after another,

every single one of them not in tune with the zeitgeist. And then there's a whole

kind of streaming wilderness. Some of those movies people like, I know a lot of people like

Glass Onion, but everything becomes kind of a soup on streaming. Oh, and then there are the

Marvel movies, which came out this year, and they made their customary $400 million domestic, and I didn't hear anybody talk about them.

Didn't hear anybody talk about Wakanda forever.

Usually, I love some Marvel movies that come out, not this year, nothing.

Each and everyone I saw in cinema, I was like, ugh, P you bad.
