Values that particularly express a motivation to care for people close to us. Those are usually held among the most

important values to most people in most societies. So kind of across the board

fairly universal, most people value, you know, kind of guiding principles that lead

us towards caring for people who are close to us, which is really interesting.

And then in contrast, values that express a motivation

to dominate or control others

are among the least important values

to most people in most societies.

There's some evolutionary theories behind this that we're going to get into later, but I thought that was interesting and helps to restore my faith in humanity at least a tiny bit to know that generally across the board we're more

motivated by wanting to help others and care for others than we are by wanting to

dominate others.
