And today, we're talking about the other German filmmaker that's not Werner Herzog.

Of course, we're talking about Vim Vendors.

You mean the other, other one? Because, of course, there's also Rainier-Verner Fastbender, is

there not?

That's true.

But I think that when people talk about, like, new German filmmakers that are still

making movies, it goes, Herzog vendors in the like public consciousness or even the film festival wait what german filmmaker guy can we get

here get wenders up here he can he can do a short right he does those all the time well it's

definitely true that fast bender has been dead for 40 years so so yes i guess it is herzagen vendors

in that order and i got to say of the three, those big three new German cinema guys,

vendors is always the one I felt the most distance from. Same. A few years ago, I think in like 2016,

I remember the lightbox in Toronto did a retrospective. So like I saw most of the popular ones there.

And I mean, to be honest, I like, I liked them well enough, but they didn't stay with me.

And I haven't really gone deep into his middle or lower tier work.

So that's the perspective I came to this week with.

What's weird is that he's a director that's so present and he does so much stuff that I should love him and be obsessed

with his work and all of the kind of weird off shots and experiments that he does. Like he almost

has a Steven Soderberg, I'll try whatever I want to do kind of mood to his filmography. But for

some reason, I've seen many of his films. And even the ones that I

like, I'm like, oh, yeah, these are good. But it doesn't make me want to go and hunt down the rest of
