Wicker of Widow Jane, here's your weekly bourbon News Update. Netflix has a new documentary coming called Heist. The six

episode series chronicles three of the biggest heist in modern American history,

through interviews and reenactments. Two of the episodes will feature Pappy Gate,

the story of Gilbert Toby Kurtzinger, the Kentucky man who pleaded

guilty back in 2018 to stealing thousands of dollars of Pappy Van Winkle bottles from Buffalo

Trace Distillery, where he had worked for 26 years. The episodes dealing with Pappy Gate are

five and six, and they are called the Bourbon King. The series will premiere on Netflix on July 14th.

And Stolley Group has announced the addition of John Ria as master blender for Kentucky Al. Ria

dedicated his career to Four Roses Distillery, where he had joined as a supervisor and parted as

chief operating officer. During his long tenure, his responsibilities included

quality control and product blending. Inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame back in 2016,

Ria has received numerous accolades for this commitment to the industry. Having served as a chairman

of the Kentucky Distillers Association Board, Ria was also honored with his

lifetime membership, one of only five such memberships in the 130-plus-year-old history.

And Digital Convenience Retailer GoPuff has acquired Liquor Barn, a leading independent chain

of beer, wine, and liquor stores based in Louisville, Kentucky, from private equity firm Blue

Equity for an

undisclosed amount. GoPuff will integrate 23 liquor barn stores into its network, and GoPuff
