Hey everybody, welcome to Wire Talk. I'm Karen Stubbs and I'm going to be leading the

podcast today on the Book of James. If this is your first time listening, we are in

the middle of studying, how to study a book of the Bible and I've chosen the book

James because it's a short book it's only five chapters long we're going to do

chapters three and four today and finish wrap it up next week.

But I just wanted to teach y'all during the month of April on how I would study

passages in a book of the Bible. I just thought this would be an easy way like

as you're walking as you're doing laundry to get some Bible scripture into you

and also sort of see the process that I do it and there's lots of ways to do it. You do not have to follow my example.

I'm just showing you this is a example.

So today we're going to be talking about controlling our tongue and God's wisdom.

So we're just going to dive right in. I'm going to read chapter 3 and then I'll

pick up chapter 4 after I finish that. So, James 3.1,

Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church.

For we who teach will be judged more strictly. Indeed, we make many mistakes,

for if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves

in every other way.

We make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth.

And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go even though the winds are strong.

In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches,
