It goes back thousands of years.

We've discovered fake wine or olive oil jar seals and shipwrecks at the bottom of the

sea designed to hide the source or quality of the wine of the olive oil.

For me, I don't give a crap if a jacket or shoes from a designer are fake.

On the other hand, the seller is committing fraud against consumers and the brands, but

worse, they're contributing to an organized crime network that reads corruption and potentially

traffics other things like drugs and even people.
