So you went to culinary school originally and you were a Russian major? I was. I was. I think I did Russian just to make certain that what I really wanted to do was cook, but what I really did want to do was cook and I knew that from a very young

age. My mom was a great cook and she ran a catering business out of our home and always

let my sister and I help and so by the time I was 15 I'd gotten a job in a

professional kitchen working guard mauge and desserts and and sometimes grill which was awesome. and

next 10 years I worked in restaurants throughout high school throughout college and as soon as I

graduated I kind of freaked out what am I going to do with a Russian major I'm going to go to

culinary school and like three weeks later I went to CIA. By the time I got out of culinary school

though I was done, totally done working restaurants. I really I wanted to be in

the food world but I did not want to work the hours and be on my feet and such.

I wanted some other experience so I came down to the city, worked lots of other jobs,

worked for Jeffrey Steingarden Food Crit Critic at Vogue for a while.
