We are settling in here in New York.

Maybe we've already settled in.

It doesn't feel like it because it is so expensive.

Have you ever noticed that when you are settling in,

whether it be to a new school year, the summer vacation,

a vacation specifically,

perhaps the new year, a new house, a new

year, house, a new job, a new relationship, all sorts of new things.

All sorts of new things.

They all require settling in. And settling in is another way of. all suddenly you just need to settle in again. You need to get in your groove. We can be often

confused and maybe we fall for the trap of thinking there's a normal month just around the bend, just over the horizon, just around

that second corner or skyscraper in my situation right now.

But what we're really talking about is the cost of settling in.

And I noticed it here as we just did just a little three-month move to New York where

suddenly we didn't have salt in the apartment. We didn't have

flower. We didn't have any pasta. We didn't have any canned anything. Empty

cupboards. So by definition settling in means it's a little expensive.

Suddenly you got to go out and buy all those staples in a tiny little grocery

store where they charge really large prices. Tiny grocery store, huge prices.
