This time last year, the FCC voted 3-2 to reclassify broadband under Title II of the 1934 Communications Act, utility rules designed for railroads and telephone monopolies — all in the name of “net neutrality.” Special guest FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai, who voted against the Open Internet Order, joins us to give his one-year progress report for the FCC’s Internet regulations. Has the Order protected consumers from harm? Or, as critics warned, has it stifled competition, innovation and investment? Did “reclassification” open Pandora’s Box?

So, you know, net neutrality,

the movement was largely, you know, driven by concerns of consumer harm, right? That if we didn't pass these very strict regulations on internet providers, that the sky would fall. So we've now

had these regulations on the books since June of 2015. How many consumers have been

saved from evil corporations commissioner? I think there's no telling. Obviously we were living in

this digital dystopia until June of last year when the regulations took effect. And finally,

the sea started apart. The light shone down. and now everything is great in the online world.

But no, in all seriousness, I think that highlights, well, two of the basic problems I had with

the neutrality decision.
