| 0:00.0 | Hi there, it's Tom here. Thank you for joining me for Day 2 of 30 Days of Beyond the Grid. |
| 0:09.9 | Between now and the first episode of our new series, I'm sharing 30 of the best clips |
| 0:15.0 | from the huge Beyond the Grid interview archive. And for Day 2, we have a two-time world |
| 0:20.8 | champion. He turns 42 this year, so he's the oldest driver on the current F1 grid, but |
| 0:26.6 | he hasn't lost any of his ruthless determination. It's Spain's Fernando Alonzo, whose amazing |
| 0:33.8 | F1 story will continue this season. Already in the book, two world titles with Renault |
| 0:39.5 | against great slight Michael Schumacher and Kimmy Reikonen, bitter teammate rivalry, with |
| 0:44.4 | Lewis Hamilton at McLaren in 2007, last-gasp championship heartbreak at Ferrari in 2012. |
| 0:51.9 | And if you're looking to learn about Formula 1 by watching a previous season, then any |
| 0:56.1 | of those should be high up your list. When Fernando came on Beyond the Grid in 2021, we |
| 1:01.7 | talked about the two championships he won, those he lost, and the one he still wants to win. |
| 1:07.2 | Here comes Alonzo, the new world champion, fantastic round of applause for the championship. |
| 1:14.2 | Fernando, when you look at your record, two world championships, 32 wins, hopefully |
| 1:27.2 | and counting. Does your talent deserve more than that? No, I don't think so. I think you |
| 1:38.3 | get what you deserve. There are couple of examples that maybe you could say that something |
| 1:46.5 | is unfair in the way that maybe some people win championships or win races that arguably |
| 1:55.9 | are better people on the grid, but you will never know that because we are all in different |
| 2:01.9 | cars. And vice versa, there are many talented drivers that as I said before, they didn't |
| 2:10.0 | even get to Formula 1. And this is unfair because I race with many, many drivers in younger |
| 2:17.1 | categories that they've been outstanding and they won many championships in GoCards, in Formula |
| 2:23.2 | 3, in other categories and they never had the chance to drive a Formula 1 car. Same here |
| 2:28.8 | now on the grid, we have 20 amazing drivers that maybe 90% of them will never win a race |
