I've kind of had the thought that it would be really nice to do a few of these shows on how to master difficult conversations.

How to actually deal with conversations that we find hard to have in life, because it's very easy to have the easy conversations where we tell people how much we like them, or how much we want to be around them, or that we want to do something positive with them.

It's a lot harder to have conversations that are confrontational.

And one of those conversations is how to quit a job.

So I'm going to give you a few quick tips today in order to go and have that conversation in the best possible way.

Firstly, open with honesty.

When you go in there, don't feel like you don't have to be honest about every single part of it.

You don't have to lay out all of your cards as to what you're doing next.

But be honest about the fact that if there's another opportunity and something you have to pursue, then be honest about it.

I have to go and pursue this thing. Don't feel the need to make up some crazy excuse about why you can't be there anymore.

People see right through those things.

Secondly, make it about you. Don't make it about them.

And I'll explain the importance of this in a minute.

But when you're leaving, you can let them know, look, you know, I have to go and focus on this mission for me.

This is something I have to do.

If I stay here, I won't be able to pursue this opportunity.

And I know that you understand that I have to do the thing that's best for me.
