Hey everybody welcome to the fight hustle and hurry podcast here we talk about the

0:09.9

Welcome to season one. What's up guys? Jeff and John Mark back for episode three and man I'm actually pretty jacked for this episode because I think this is the crux of the entire season and what I mean by that is this is the bridge this is the transitional episode where we're going to lean into how do you actually beat

0:54.9

and defeat hustle and hurry what is it and what's really cool is I think

0:58.4

simultaneously in our own walks and around paths over here in Maui the last couple

1:01.7

years John Mark and Portland.

1:04.4

We've kind of each been individually leaning into a little bit more of an ancient way of

1:10.4

Jesus if you want to call it that or rediscovering things that really aren't even actually that new at all but like I said are very ancient and very much a part of our church tradition that we've lost just very recently but bring so much life and you can call those rules of life I like to call those

1:24.8

formations in the book that I wrote and so John Mark I want to toss it to you but one

1:29.2

thing I'll say real quick to get us started is I one thing that was really helpful a couple years ago that we

1:35.8

did in our family is we basically tossed out the phrase goals we just said like

1:40.4

we're done with that and we're going to stop saying it right now

1:43.2

am I a little dramatic am I an eight on the anyagram and do I go a little like

1:46.9

black or white too much yes our goal is decent are they fine of course hear that

1:50.8

disclaimer but for us we said like we are done that word is not

1:54.2

allowed that's a swear word in our house now and I think why and why I say that is

1:59.2

because I think again a question we have to ask as followers of Jesus specifically or listening to the

2:05.2

podcast is who am I becoming by the things that I'm doing right and God is trying to mold

2:11.9

me and form me into particular particular image. And for us, at least in our family, the culture of goals is getting a little overwhelming. It's getting a little too intense. It was kind of impeding on us too much.

2:23.4

And for my book, I did some research. You can actually go into Google and search like past

2:26.8

historical books from the last 100 years. And you should do this if you have time.
