A heat wave in the US is breaking dozens of records this week, mainly in the Midwest and Northeast, and even more records are

on the chopping block as the heat in the East reaches its peak today and tomorrow.

Tens of millions of people in the U.S. will experience temperatures of at least 90 degrees this afternoon.

Health Department data shows New York is experiencing a surge in heat-related emergency room visits

and calls.

And strong thunderstorms mixed with excessive heat could lead to prolonged power outages this week.

Some 9,000 people in Pennsylvania still don't have power following storms Monday night,

and it may take until Sunday for power to be fully

restored. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is receiving blowback from

the Biden administration over his comments this week.

He called it, quote, inconceivable that the US has been withholding weapons from Israel.

But an envoy for President Joe Biden told Netanyahu that his comments were, quote, unproductive,

and quote, more importantly completely

untrue during a meeting on Tuesday.
