The international response to the deadly earthquake that struck near Marrakesh overnight has been swift.

Israel and the United Arab Emirates are already preparing to offer on-the-ground assistance,

while the United Nations has also said it'll provide help.

The French ambassador to Morocco told CNN affiliate BFM TV

that France is in talks with Moroccan authorities to figure out quote ways to accompany Morocco

in this grave crisis. The 6.8 magnitude earthquake has left over 1,000 people dead so far and

thousands more injured. It's expected that number will continue to rise as rescue efforts

continue. The clock is sticking for all three U.S. automakers to make a deal with the

Auto Workers Union before a possible strike deadline next Friday.

The push-in pull continues between the two sides, but no agreement has been reached yet.

CNN's Vanessa Yurkavich updates us on the latest.

Yeah, Paula, the union now has in hand proposals from all three US automakers as a possible strike is

under a week away. The union president said the big three have yet to offer

members a fair contract. We've never seen a strike against all three automakers at the same time, but the union has made it clear that that is on the table if their demands are not met.

That would send 145,000 auto workers to the picket lines.

Stelantis came in with the highest wage increases at 14.5%,

Ford and GM both offered 10%,

but the union is looking for a 40% pay increase for workers

over the course of the four-year contract. More proposals are expected to be

traded over this weekend.
