Preliminary reports estimate the damage or destroyed structures to be in the thousands. It is safe to say that the Palisades Fire is one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles.

That's Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristen Crowley at a press conference this morning.

She said extreme fire behavior continues to threaten firefighting efforts for the Palisades area,

with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour expected throughout the day.

That's just one of the five active wildfires causing people to flee Southern California right now. Nearly 180,000 people in L.A. County are

under evacuation orders, according to Sheriff Robert Luna. At least five people have died in the fires,

The Attorney General has asked a federal appeals court for permission to release special counsel Jack Smith's report on the January 6th insurrection before Donald Trump takes office.
