Hi from CNN, this is Madeline Thompson with five things you need to know for Monday, October 7th.

The Israeli military says it intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen

toward central Israel today. It's been exactly a year since the Hamas terrorist

attacks that launched Israel's war in Gaza, which has since spilled over into Lebanon and could now lead to conflict with Iran.

CNN's Jim Schutto is in Tel Aviv.

On the question of responding to Iran, defending against Iran, I've largely sensed agreement here,

that they feel under threat, that that is, you'll often hear the phrase used, the head of the snake,

that Iran is the one that is pushing the huthies in Hamas and Hezbollah,

and that Israel must respond to that and must defend itself against Iran.

I do hear a lot of agreement in this country that something must be done right something must be done as relates to

Iran of course the question is what will that response be how big it will be and then the question after each attack is how then Iran might

respond to this latest escalation. The Iran-backed hooty rebels in Yemen have not

yet commented on the purported missile launch from that country.

Meanwhile former President Donald Trump is taking advantage of the attack's anniversary

to criticize how President Joe Biden's administration has handled the ensuing conflict.

On the Hugh Hewitt show this morning, Trump said communication between Biden and Netanyahu

is strained.

He's not listening at all, you know, they don't even speak.

Trump also called into the radio show Sid and friends in the morning and

reiterated his claim that the October 7th attacks quote would have never

happened if he were president.
