I've always thought that you can learn almost every skill set one might want to learn in

the garden, whether it's biology or math or science or physics or patience even some

What are some of the things that has taught you, Ashley?

You know, I spend a lot of time reflecting on what the garden teaches me and I come from

a scientific background.

So of course that allows me to utilize that scientific arm but there are some more of

those more holistic concepts that the garden teaches me, things that are based in virtue

and really things that we try to practice each day as human beings and you know, three

of those things I would say that the garden has really taught me over my journey as, you

know, compassion, respect and also just not trying to control everything.

But recognizing that, you know, I am limited as a human and that's okay.

That's okay.

Yeah, I think I did not learn the control element or the lack of control element until many

years into the season or many years into my growing journey because I just thought I,

oh, it's, you know, I'm the gardener, I'm the one making the plant grow.

And of course, you know, that might be true if you're like growing it indoors and you're

bathing it through every step, but the second you get a more complex, sort of natural

ecosystem style garden, you really quickly realize that that's just not the case.
