On today's episode, a three-body problem is discovered in the Kuiper Belt, and on this day

in history, we look at the quiz show scandals of the 1950s.

NASA's Hubble Telescope has uncovered new evidence that a distant Kuiper belt system

previously thought to be a binary pair may actually be a trio of gravitationally bound objects.

The findings were published in the Planetary Science Journal earlier this month.

If confirmed, this would make 148-780 Algera only the second known

three-body system in the Kuiper Belt, reshaping our understanding of how these icy objects form.

The Kiper Belt is a vast icy region beyond Neptune and is home to thousands of known objects,

or KBOs, with many more awaiting discovery. Since its first identified object,

1992 QB1, over 3,000 KBOs have been cataloged. Scientists estimate there may be hundreds

of thousands more, each over 10 miles in diameter. The Al Jira system is located around 3.7 billion

miles from the sun, or roughly 40 times the distance
