What a tragic and depressing ending to the Kingslingers podcast. This week on the show, our eight-part series covering Stephen King's Duma Key continues with part

seven. We'll be chatting about chapters 18 all the way through the end of the novel. After some

clutch of ventriloquism, the boys managed to find the Percy China doll and drown it inside

a flashlight tube, which they proceed to then also drown in one of Minnesota's

1,000 lakes. Edgar then starts his third life down in Mexico with his friend, Wyerman,

and they live happily ever after.

Except when Wyerman dies.

Yeah.

Like, here's the thing.

This is one of those King books that is unquestionably a great book, but it left me just feeling sad.

And I don't know, like, maybe it's pushing some specific buttons with me, but I've, normally King gives you a little something to pick you up at the end.

Like even if, even if there's a tragedy in the story, it's like, you know, but at least they had their, you know, their sweetheart or their family or their found family or something.
