This week, our eight-part series covering Stephen King's Duma Key continues with part six. We're chatting about chapters 15 through 17 of the novel. In this week's reading, Edgar realizes his paintings are dangerous, but not quickly enough to stop the death.

So several people, including his beloved Ilsa, the Katte makes their way to South Duma and the confrontation with Percy that awaits them there.

We're almost at the end.

Matt, what did you think of this week's reading?

Well, everything certainly escalated, perhaps even more so than I thought it would. I mean, I think we were pretty sure last week that Elsa was going to die.

But I don't, I wouldn't have predicted necessarily that so many people were going to die.

I don't know that that was, I don't think it was completely not foreshadowed, but I guess I'll just say, yeah, the sort of

the magnitude of the of the supernatural reach was, um, was more than I imagined it would be.

Yeah, it's, it's, it numbers at four, right? It's Tom, Kamen, uh, Ilsa, and then, and then Mary

I are herself, of course. Yeah. Yes, exactly.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean, it was, in a sense, it's great stuff. In another sense, it's not fun, right?

It's like, it's like the least fun thing to read is like this is the part of the book when all of the characters that you love die.

So like part of me appreciates the artistry of like, okay, you got these emotions out
