So sacrifices, we have not only words for like the act of sacrifice, but then the sacrifices themselves.

Right. Right. So, I'm doing this Hebrew mini lesson by popular request. It's one that Bay Mahlisner send in with some regularity. I'm asking about what's the differences between the different words for sacrifices.

There's a whole bunch of different words in both English and Hebrew that we use.

Willie Nilly as per usual. Why are they different?

Is it the academic term for it? Willie Nilly usage.

Yeah. If you check websters, it's right there. But why are they different? What's the picture behind them?

Is there any meaning we can glean from this lengthy complex system that we often kind of just shove against the wall and a little bit of self-righteousness like a well God was never really into those anyway.

First, before we look at the Hebrew, we have to examine our own biases and what kind of baggage we're bringing to the table, perhaps unconsciously.

So, what's a sacrifice, Brent?

I think my immediate image would be some animal or maybe a non-animal if you can't afford it that you place on some sort of altar and destroy it or in some way relieve your own benefit.

We're an inability to utilize it. Sure.

I like it. It's functional. It's a functional definition you've brought for us.

In English, the word sacrifice comes from the 12th century where it came from the Latin and it just meant sacred rights as an RITES, which is very open, very general, not specific at all.
