Christina traveled to Antarctica with a little microphone and so this week we play for you her field recordings and interviews as she takes us on a Sonic journey to the Southern continent.

Thanks for being here. Okay, so this week we're diverting from the normal format in a really fun way.

In January, Christina went on an expedition to the southernmost

continent on our planet, Antarctica. But this was not an ordinary expedition. This was the

third Antarctic

expedition with Homeward Bound, a global leadership

initiative for women in STEM. And STEM stands for science,

technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. And so before we embark on

Christina's Sonic Journey that she recorded for us, I want to give you a little more

context on what Homeward Bound is, but rather than me explain what it is, I'm going to play for you a short interview that

Christina did with Fabian Datner, who is the founder of the Homeward Bound project.

She and Christina shared a cabin on the ship

that they were on called the Ushwaya.

And so this was recorded one evening

when they were together.
