Hello and welcome to episode 29 of Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.

Hi, I'm John Joseph Adams. I'm the editor of several anthologies such as

Wastelands and the Living Dead. My latest book is Brave New Worlds, an anthology of

dystopian fiction, and other recent books include The Way of the Wizard and The Living Dead

too. And I'm also the editor of the magazine's Fantasy and Lightspeed.

And I'm David Barr Hurley.

My short fiction appears in books such as new voices in science fiction and fantasy the best of the year.

And my newest stories are Cats in Victory and Light Speed,

The Skullface City in The Living Dead 2,

and Family Tree in the Way of the Wizard.

And today on the show will be interviewing Orson Scott Card,

author of the best-selling science fiction novels,

Enders Game, Enders Shadow, and Speaker for the Dead.

He also writes contemporary fantasy such as Magic Street and Enchantment,

biblical novels such as Rachel and Lea, and the American frontier fantasy series The Tales of

Alvin Maker beginning with Seventh Sun. He's also the publisher of the online science fiction

magazine Intergalactic Medicine show. So this is an interview that we recorded back in December.

As some of you may have heard Orson Scott Card suffered a mild stroke on January 1st.

An announcement on his website says, quote,

he is now back home retraining his brain so that the fingers of his left hand strike the keys he's aiming for.

He will not be responding to most emails because his typing time must be devoted to finishing his fiction.
